Jerry H. Darmody

November 25, 1924 — March 20, 2025

Wayne

Jerry H. Darmody, 100, of the Town of Wayne, entered eternal life peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 20, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1924, the son of the late Michael and Violenta (nee Zimmel) Darmody.

He was one of six children. When Jerry was a young boy, his parents took over the family farm in 1934 where he has lived ever since.

On October 11, 1947, he married Marion Nigh at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.

Jerry and Marion moved to the family farm in the Town of Wayne in 1949. They built a new house on the farm in 1957. They enjoyed polka dances, playing sheepshead, gambling, and hosting many family gatherings. He loved watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren play on the lawn at the farm on Sunday afternoons while continuing the happy hour tradition started by his wife Marion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to Brewers games. While he was still able, he continued to help with the farm work.

In later years he enjoyed touring the farm on his golf cart and enjoyed cutting his own lawn until age 99. Jerry and Marion were long-time members of St Kilian Catholic Church in St Kilian. He served with the Knights of Columbus for 75 years. Jerry was tough, and a very hard worker, but also quiet, humble, and kindhearted with a subtle sense of humor. He loved to have visitors and share stories from the past as he had a great memory for detail until the end.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include seven children: Dale (Linda) Darmody of Naples, Florida, Donna (Jim) Laufer of Kewaskum, Gordon (Julie) Darmody of Town of Wayne, Judy (Calvin) Steinert of Kewaskum, Kevin (Carol) Darmody of West Bend, Lisa (Larry) Polenske of West Bend, and Jill (Mike) Luedtke of Campbellsport. He is survived by 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law: Jerry (Beverly) Nigh of Campbellsport, David Nigh of St Cloud, Florida, and two sisters-in-law: Barbera (Dale) Timmler of West Bend, and Laura Nigh of West Bend.

In addition to his parents and parents-in-law, he was preceded in death by his wife Marion, daughter, Janet, one great grandson, Noah Wilson, two brothers, three sisters, and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
