Joan "Jo" Pick, of West Bend, left us on Saturday, April 6, 2013 one month shy of her 97th birthday.
Joan had a lively and fun loving personality stemming from a childhood that was filled with adventure and a close, caring family. Joan, "Joie", was the youngest of three children born to Melitta and Andrew Pick. She was a lifelong resident of West Bend and loved her home as well as the city of West Bend. Her love of home, her generous spirit, and her commitment to her community will be felt for generations.
The Museum of Wisconsin Art will stand as an ongoing tribute to the Pick family and Joan's love of West Bend and the state of Wisconsin. Joan had a love of nature, the apple trees that grew on her property, the birds that came to feed, and the deer that wandered through her fields brought her joy and peace. Her family and friends will remember her and all the wonderful moments they shared in West Bend and on her beloved farm. Jo brought laughter, the freedom of spirit, and the knowledge and ability to use an artful eye to find beauty in everything.
In lieu of gifts, plant a flower in a garden, listen to the birds, and whisper a prayer in her memory.
Private family services in honor of Joan will be held at a later date.
