Joan M. Stoffel

May 1, 1951 — December 6, 2024

Joan M. Stoffel, 73, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, with her family at her side.

Joan was born on May 1, 1951, in Hartford, the daughter of the late Bernard and Elaine (nee Kempken) Hauser. She grew up in Jackson, Wisconsin, and graduated from West Bend High School in 1969. She then attended Alverno College and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May of 1973. On June 22, 1973, she was united in marriage to Daniel Stoffel at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend. Joan's nursing career saw her caring for countless patients across various hospitals and care facilities. Her genuine love for people made her an exceptional caregiver. Despite living with multiple sclerosis for 50 years, which ended her nursing career early, Joan's spirit remained unbroken. She always greeted everyone with a radiant smile and a twinkle in her eye. Known for her engaging conversations, she was always eager to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. And let's not forget her knack for delivering the perfect one-liner!

Family was the cornerstone of her life. She took immense pride in her two daughters and their accomplishments. Though her daughters’ lives moved them to different parts of the country, she eagerly looked forward to traveling to visit them, especially after her four grandchildren arrived.  She absolutely loved spending time with them, particularly when they came with sweet treats in hand. Holiday parties were a special delight for her, as she cherished the chance to mingle, catch up with everyone and enjoy even more desserts.

Joan and Dan’s life has been blessed with two large families who have continually shown love and support, for which they will always be grateful.

~People may think that Joan’s MS won but they would be wrong. ~

Joan is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dan; two children, Erin (Christopher Johnson) Stoffel and Carrie (Tilmann) Glimm; four grandchildren, Mathilda and Maximilian Glimm and Elyse and Cole Johnson; four siblings, Dan (Lori) Hauser, Don (Sherri) Hauser, David (Mary) Hauser, and Jackie (Brian) Hagenow; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom (Kate) Stoffel, Lee Stoffel (Tina Thompson), Ann Pfeil, Ned (Carol) Stoffel, Tim (Nancy) Stoffel, Amy (Lloyd) Pamperin, Pat Stoffel, Nicole (Jene) Atkinson, Jacky (Jeff) Geidel, and Shelly (Brian) Taylor; dozens of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Gerald Stoffel; her mother-in-law, Ruth Stoffel; her step mother-in-law, Marty Stoffel; her sister-in-law, Karen Stoffel; and other relatives and friends.
