Johanna Gavin

Johanna Gavin, nee Schmidt, age 73, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday August 8, 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center.

She was born on November 15, 1933 in Nuremberg, Germany to the late Leonard and Betty Schmidt, and was united in marriage to George Gavin, who was stationed in Germany as part of the U.S. Army, on May 7, 1953 in Nuremberg, Germany.

They came to the United States in 1956 and lived in different areas of Ozaukee and Washington Counties until settling in West Bend in 1982.

Johanna worked at Regal Ware in Kewaskum for many years until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and especially camping at the Dells. Above all her family was the most important part of her life.

Johanna is survived by her husband, George; five children, Maria Gavin of West Bend, Isabella (Carl) Ray of Fox Lake, Robert (Renee) Gavin of Sheboygan, Michael Gavin of West Bend, and Debora (Armando) Manresa of West Bend; four grandchildren, Crystal Gavin, Kayla Gavin, Shentel Manresa, and Armando Manresa; two sisters, Betty (Robert) Motte and Agnes Schmidt both of Florida; a sister-in-law, Marie (Larry) Heinen of Cedar Grove; four brothers-in-law, Robert Gavin of Pueblo, CO, Francis (Joan) Gavin of Pueblo, CO, Edward (Darlene) Gavin of Lakewood, and Dale (Beverly) Gavin of Lakewood; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services to remember Johanna will be held on Saturday August 11th at 3:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Deacon Mark Jansen of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
