John M. "Hans" Lang, age 86, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday November 12, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
He was born on May 1, 1922 to the late John and Theresa (Beck) Lang on the family homestead farm in the town of Trenton. Hans attended West Bend High School and graduated in 1940. On June 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mildred Donath at Holy Angles Catholic Church.
Hans farmed on the family farm until 1976 when he and Mildred moved to West Bend. Hans also worked for the former West Bend Malt & Grain Company, and for the City of West Bend in the Public Works Department.
Hans was a member of Holy Angeles Catholic Church, and the West Bend Moose Lodge #1398. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; their four children, Richard (Mary Jane) Lang of West Bend, Sandy (her friend, John Hoeft) Lang of West Bend, Michael (Jolene) Lang of West Bend, David (Kay Wamsley) Lang of West Bend; seven grandchildren, Brian (Shelly) Lang, Brenda (Jeremy) Kell, Chris (Kelly) Lang, Travis Lang, Jenny (Jay) Beth, Mark (Nikki) Wamsley, Jamie Wamsley; four great-grandchildren, Logan Kell, Nicholas Kell, Emilia Lang, Summer Wamsley; one sister, Marion Schwinn, formerly of Fillmore, 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gasner of Plymouth, Mildred Donath of West Bend, many other dear relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Lang; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Gasner, Orin Donath and Arvin Schwinn.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Hans will be Saturday, November 15th at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N. 8th Avenue). Father Gerald Brittain will be the celebrant. Visitation will be Saturday at the church only from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. Memorial to the Diabetes Association or Holy Angles School Trust Fund are appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mosley, Cedar Lake Staff and the nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital for the wonderful care they provided for Hans.
