John D. Nast

John D. Nast, age 62, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday June 28, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 20, 1943 in Milwaukee to Fred and Milly (Nee Benedict) Nast Jr. John attended Milwaukee Country Day School, and later graduated from the University of Denver with a Degree in Mathematics. He then worked in California for NASA a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

After his military service was over, John returned to Wisconsin and started working as a fifth generation member of Western Lime Corporation. He moved with his family to West Bend in 1976. At the time of his death, John was the president of Western Lime Corp., with the headquarters located in West Bend and plants in Eden and Green Bay.

On June 19, 2004 John was united in marriage to Judy Gabriel at Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette, IN. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was active with the Riveredge Nature Trail, and enjoyed bike riding, camping, kayaking, and in general enjoyed nature. John was passionate about helping sponsor children to summer YMCA camps.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his parents Fred and Milly Nast of Mequon; a son J. Kyle (Sara) Nast of San Francisco, CA; two step-daughters, Theresa Prather of Nappanee, IN, and Kimberly (Dan) Mickey of Bellivedere, IL; three step-grandchildren, Roman Oritz-Prather, Kayle Mickey, and Garrett Mickey; a sister Barbara N. Hughes of East Hanney, Oxfordshire, England; a brother Fred Nast of Port Washington; other relatives and many friends. His son Christopher preceded him in death.

Funeral services to celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday July 1st at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend. Rev. David Schoob will officiate. Burial will follow in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. Visitation will be Friday at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church are appreciated.
