John S. Peters, age 78, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center.
He was born on October 21, 1928 in West Bend to the late Carl and Evelyn (nee Perschbacher) Peters, and graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1947. On August 6, 1955 John was united in marriage to Dolores Volz at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Together they made their home in West Bend.
John worked for the Amity Company until his retirement in 1991, and was a member of the Amity 25 year club. He enjoyed collecting all kinds of antiques and rummaging whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; three children, Debra (David) Spang of Stevens Point, Beth (David) Ehlers of Kewaskum, and Roger (Ann) Peters of Campbellsport; five grandchildren, Katie Dehling, Jeri Dehling, Vanessa Dehling, Andy Peters, and Lauren Peters; a step-grandson, Luke Ehlers; a brother, Allen (Barbara) Peters of Reedsville; a sister-in-law, Bernice Karoses of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Donald (Tiger) Volz of Leadville, CO; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joseph Volz.
Funeral services in memory of John will be held on Monday, June 4th at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Sharon Stier will officiate, and burial will follow in Union Cemetery, West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
Memorials to the new Freedom Memorial to be built on the grounds of the old Washington County Courthouse are appreciated.
