John L. Tepper

July 11, 1950 — November 13, 2016

John L. Tepper, 66, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 on his way home from church.

John was born on July 11, 1950, the son of the late Lee and Loraine (Nitz) Tepper. On April 22, 1978 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hoeft at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Barton. Marilyn preceded John in death on September 28, 2008. Now, John can be happily reunited with the love of his life whom he missed so much.

John was a hard working, inspirational man with a strong faith and a charismatic personality. He could find humor in all situations. He is a cancer survivor and he wanted so much to be able to help others who were cancer patients or caretakers of those who struggled with terminal illness. He was a humble, patient man with a calming presence and had the gift of knowing what to say to others in any situation.

John loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and traveling, including multiple trips to the Black Hills as well as the Caribbean. He had an incredible love for animals as he enjoyed feeding the birds in his backyard as well as the resident deer who visited in the evenings. He was also a football fan who enjoyed cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers.

John always enjoyed and treasured the many friends he made over the years in the dairy industry. As a sales professional, he built strong relationships with some amazing people that have spanned over multiple decades. In his recent years, he had a great time reconnecting with college buddies from UW-Stevens Point.

Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include two children, Sean Tepper of Pewaukee and Stephanie Tepper of Cedarburg (special friend Tracy Dockery of Appleton) and his 10 year old chocolate lab, Sam.

A memorial service for John will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Open Door Bible Church, 3420 Highway LL, in Port Washington with Pastor Sid Litke and Pastor James Taylor officiating.

John’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
