John P. Weyer, 82, of Brownsville found peace on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
John was born on May 14, 1938, the youngest child to the late Andrew and Rose (nee Czoschke) Weyer. He grew up in the village of Lomira and graduated from Lomira High School in 1956. On October 12, 1968, he was united in marriage to Caroline Valle. Together they raised their three children.
John began his working life in masonry and trucking. Together John and Caroline began their trucking business, John P. Weyer Inc., in 1968 and retired in 2007.
John’s greatest pride and escape was his cottage, built by him and his father in 1965 on Lake Gilmore near Woodruff. He spent many days and weeks fishing, landscaping, and maintaining his home away from home ‘Up North’. The cottage holds many memories, not to mention more fishing rods and tackle than any one fisherman could ever need.
John was a very proud grandpa. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren on his pier and driving them around in the boat or on the 4-wheeler.
Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Caroline; three children, Gina (Paul) Butler, Kristine Weyer Adkins, and Brian (Annemarie) Weyer; seven grandchildren, Josie and Ryan Adkins, Adam, Andrew, and Aidan Butler, and Julia and Claire Weyer; a step-grandson, Austin Butler; a brother-in-law, David (Lin) Valle; a good friend and neighbor, Rob (Cindy) Likely; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Rita (Clem) Bauer; his brother Roland (Gloria) Weyer; and a brother-in-law, Michael Valle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee St., Lomira. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.
