Joseph I. Marx, 91, of St. Michaels, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.


He was born on March 18, 1920, in the town of Barton, the son of the late Andrew and Ida (Schiller) Marx, and on July 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Theusch at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels.


Joseph was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the 25 Year Club, St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels and the Boltonville Sportsmen’s Club.


Those Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Gertrude; four sons, Gerald (Patricia) Marx, Daniel (June) Marx, Gary (Jane) Marx and Robert Marx; seven grandchildren, Kim, James, Jack, Joseph, Anne, Mary and Megan Marx; 2 great-grandchildren, Devin and Addison; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Marx and two sisters, Helen Goetz and Clara Theisen.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph was held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forest View Road in St. Michaels. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.


The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Joseph’s arrangements.
