Joyce E. Birr, nee Wilson, 80, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend, with her family by her side.
She was born on December 1, 1926 in Duluth, MN to the late Clyde and Alvida (nee Stensrud) Wilson. Joyce was united in marriage to Melvin Birr on August 6, 1948 in Waukegan, IL. Melvin passed away on May 18, 1982.
Joyce devoted most of her time to raising her children and she also worked for J.C. Penny's in Wauwatosa for 15 years. She enjoyed playing the organ and she was a member of the American Legion in Bowler and the Order of the Easter Star in West Bend. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend.
She is survived by her two children, Daryl Birr and Karen (Peter) Geib, both of West Bend; two grandchildren, Adam and Ashlee Geib of West Bend; a brother, Fulton Wilson of Duluth, MN, a sister-in-law, Donna Jacobson of Kansas City, MO; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Jack Wilson, Vern Wilson, and Wallace Wilson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 N. 7th Ave., West Bend, with Rev. David Schoob officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial of Joyce's cremated remains will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Bowler.
