Joyce A. Blaeske, (nee Hoide), age 70, of West Bend, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at her residence.
She was born on March 26, 1939 in Hillsboro to the late Orville and Norma (nee Liska) Hoide. At a young age Joyce moved with her family to Milwaukee where she attended Custer High School. She graduated in the class of 1957. During high school she worked at the Town Pride Drive In where she met her future husband, Richard. They were united in marriage on May 14, 1960 in Milwaukee. Following their marriage they moved to West Bend where they owned and operated the Colonial Restaurant for many years. Once their children were grown, Joyce worked in the lunchroom at Badger Middle School. She enjoyed antiquing and going to rummage sales.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dick; son, Bret Blaeske of Kewaskum; two sisters, Joan (Warren) DeSchmidt of Cedarburg and Debora Vance of Viroqua; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rick William Blaeske; and her sister, Judy Schmidt.
Funeral services in remembrance of Joyce will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington Street) West Bend with Rev. Bruce Dunford officiating. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 (noon) until the time of services.
