Joyce Laura (Hoeft) Danbrea

Joyce Laura Danbrea (nee Hoeft), age 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 after a long battle with dementia.

Joyce was born in Minneapolis on June 18, 1943, eventually moving to West Allis, Wisconsin. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dan Danbrea, at the age of 15. It is rare to find a love like they had. Dan and Joyce shared 51 wonderful years together until Dan’s unexpected passing in February of 2016.

Joyce was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, and then began working as an Executive Assistant at Rockwell Automation. Dan also worked at Rockwell for his entire career and they both were able to retire together on the same day.

She enjoyed her creative passions, such as drawing, painting, or journaling – even dedicating a room in her home to doing just that. She would spend hours in her ‘special room’ where she would express herself with her artwork or journaling. Joyce had a deep love for reading and music; she had an expansive taste, including Elvis, Barbara Streisand, the Bee Gees, and Abba.

Above all this, Joyce had so much love for her family and friends and loved spending time with them - as much and as often as she could. She was caring, kind, patient, and loving, and would do anything for her family and friends. Joyce was loved by many, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory include her children, Tim (Laura) Danbrea, and Wendy (Don) Roehl; her grandchildren, Danielle (Robby) Meyer, Ryan (Danielle) Danbrea, Miranda Roehl, and Ryan Roehl; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mia, and Olivia Meyer; her five siblings and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Per Joyce’s wishes, there will be a small, private gathering with her immediate family and no public service held at this time.
