Joyce M. Roethke

Joyce M. Roethke, (nee Grahl), age 81, of West Bend, passed away Thursday June 4, 2015 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

She was born on November 3, 1933 in Fond du Lac to the late Bernard and Bardine (nee Schultz) Grahl, and graduated from Goodrich High School in the class of 1952. On August 30, 1953 Joyce was united in marriage to Charles Roethke Sr. at Tabor United Brethren Church in Eden.

Joyce was a member of St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church on Beaver Dam Rd., West Bend, where she had been active as the church organist, choir member, and member of the ladies aid.

In the mid 1960's, Chuck, Joyce, and a drummer, Joe Fell, formed a musical trio called the "Country Clefs". In the mid 1970's, the trio became "Chuck's Family Three" with Joyce's daughter, Lynn, on vocals and drums. Joyce enjoyed gardening and was a huge sports fan, especially following her daughter Lynn to her Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea in 1988, and Barcelona, Spain in 1992.

Joyce drove school bus for Johnson Bus Company for over 30 years.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Charles; three children, Lori (Joseph) Klahn of Campbellsport, Charles (Marian) Roethke Jr. of West Bend, and Lynn (Lynda Johnson) Roethke of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren, Craig (Julie) Konen, Ben (Amy) Konen, James Konen, Paul (Heather Lazo) Konen, Joe Klahn, Jennifer Klahn, Christa (Jeff) Cardenas, Charles Roethke, Curtiss Johnson, and Grant Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren, Katie, Karlie, Kyler, Brittany, Dyllan, Christopher, Shelby, Corin, Jada, Drake, Mason, and Jayden; a great-great granddaughter, Peytan; three sisters, twin sister Joan (Orville) Glass, Dorothy Bohlman, and Lois Nichols.

Preceded in death by her parents, Bernard & Bardine; parents-in-law, Eldon & Phyllis Roethke; a brother and his wife, Donald & Leah Grahl; three brothers-in-law, Larry Bohlman, Fred Beede, and Ronnie Nichols.

Funeral services in remembrance of Joyce will be held on Monday June 8th at 11:00 am at St Peters Ev. Lutheran Church (4930 Beaver Dam Rd.) West Bend. Rev. Paul Reede will officiate. Visitation will be at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home on Sunday June 7th from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Monday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
