Julia M. "Julie" Mckee

February 7, 1923 — June 21, 2010

Julia M. “Julie” McKee, 87, of the town of Farmington, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.

She was born on February 7, 1923, in Port Washington, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Heinz) Federmeyer, and on October 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Merlin McKee at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple made their home and farmed in the town of Farmington for many years. Merlin preceded Julie in death on July 26, 2001.

Julie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels, the Christian Mother’s Altar Society and St. John of God Catholic Chapel in the town of Farmington.

She was a devoted wife and mother who appreciated life on the farm. Her family meant the world to her. Julie was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved visits with her great-grandchildren.

Julie had a remarkable green thumb. Plants under her tender care flourished with life. She will fondly be remembered for her warm and welcoming personality. While a resident at Kettle Moraine Gardens, she was one of the first people to welcome a new resident and invite them to participate in activities. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.

Those Julie leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Carol McKee (special friend, David Mapes) of West Bend, Kenneth (Shirley) McKee and Richard (Sandy) McKee both of the town of Farmington; five grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Broughton, Jill (Tim) Kleiber, Michael (Katie) McKee, Melissa McKee (special friend, Tom Limbach) and Jackie McKee; two great-granddaughters, Keira Kleiber and Cecilia Broughton; four sisters, Marie Olan of Menomonee Falls, Florence Federmeyer and Angie (Stan) Tackes both of Grafton and Lucille (Rich) Sutter of Hartford, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Julie now rests in peace with her grandson, Timothy McKee; three sisters, Gertrude Federmeyer, Helen (Milford) Van De Loo and Elizabeth (Calvin) Clevenger; four brothers, William, Nicholas, Francis and Joseph Federmeyer; two brothers-in-law, Reuben McKee and Joseph Olan and her parents-in-law, John and Veronica McKee.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Julie was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road in St. Michaels. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in St. John of God Catholic Cemetery in the town of Farmington.

Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to the Tim McKee Scholarship Fund are appreciated.

Julie’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Kettle Moraine Gardens, Allay Home Care and Hospice, Dr. Bruce Griswold and his nurse, Susie, for the attentive and compassionate care provided to Julie.
