Julie A. Bittermann

Julie A. Bittermann, nee Fuerniss, 65, of West Bend, WI, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, LA.

She was born on September 28, 1947 in Parkston, SD to Arnold and Helene (nee Laufer) Fuerniss. She attended Choteau Creek #5 Grade School in Charles Mix County and she graduated from Delmont South Dakota High School in 1965. Julie was united in marriage to Glenn Bittermann on November 4, 1967 in Delmont, SD and shortly after their marriage the couple moved to West Bend, WI. Glenn passed away October 31, 2012.

Julie worked at the West Bend Company for 45 years, retiring in 2012. She was devoted to her family and took every opportunity to be there for them. She loved to cook, read, travel, and visit with friends. She also had a passion for collecting and sharing Longaberger baskets.

Those Julie leaves behind to cherish her memory include her mother, Helene Fuerniss of Delmont, SD; three children, Russell (Haley) Bittermann of New Orleans, LA, Troy (Robin) Bittermann of Muskego, WI, and Stacy (Boomer) Danford of New Orleans, LA; six grandchildren, Travis, Alex, Mitchell, Auden, Benjamin and Ruby; two sisters, Cheryl (Rich) Lockwood of Sallisaw, OK, and Susan (Tim) Thuringer of Lexington, KY; two brothers, Charner (Rebecca) Fuerniss of Byhalia, MS, and Charles (Elaine) Fuerniss of Paris, KY; a sister-in-law, LaVonne (Melvin) Konrad of Mitchell, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her father, Arnold Fuerniss; and a brother, Terry Fuerniss.

The funeral service in remembrance of Julie will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, 462 Meadowbrook Dr., West Bend, WI. Rev. Joseph Fisher and Rev. Christopher Raffa will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, WI. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to the March of Dimes are appreciated.

Julie's children would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the ICU of Touro Infirmary, New Orleans, and to all the family and friends for their thoughts, prayers and support.
