June G. Zimmerman, 76, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 1, 1933, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late Richard and Lillian (Weninger) Ruecker. At the age of seven, June contracted polio, the only person in her community who contracted the disease. June was a 1951 graduate of Mayville High School, and on July 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert R. Zimmerman at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.
June was a Scout leader, active in the PTO at Consolidated Catholic School Lomira – Theresa (CCLT) in Lomira and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. She enjoyed reading, swimming, needlepoint and the company of friends.
Those June leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 57 years, Robert; six children, Patrick Zimmerman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mary Robin Zimmerman of Fremont, California, Nikki (Robert) Devine of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Michael (Lori) Zimmerman of Cypress, California, Traci Zimmerman of Round Rock, Texas and Kelli (Andy) Zimmerman-Klemp of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Jim Ruecker and Ralph “Bud” Ruecker both of Theresa; two sisters, Pearl Dejanovich of Mayville and Mary Lou Zangl of Lomira; a sister-in-law, Gerry Zimmerman of Mayville; five grandchildren, Peter and Max Zimmerman, Matthew and Tara Devine and Ty Zimmerman; two step-grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Kadoi and Kyle Lunsford; a step-great-granddaughter, Kiana Kadoi, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by an infant sister, Vivian.
Cremation took place. A Memorial Mass for June was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. The Very Reverend Victor Capriolo officiated and burial of her cremains was in St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery in Theresa.
June’s family received relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Agnesian Hospice Hope or St. Mary’s Springs High School are appreciated.
