Karen Ann Kirst

August 3, 1946 — February 27, 2017

Karen A. Kirst, 70, of Kewaskum, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born on August 3, 1946, in Port Washington, the daughter of the late Theodore and Loretta (Woltring) Thelen. On March 2, 1990, she was united in marriage to Wayne Kirst at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.

Karen spent a lot of time with friends and family. She enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and up north sitting by the fire, loved playing cards/games and gardening. Karen enjoyed doing puzzles and reading. She enjoyed riding in Big Red and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Those Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Wayne; three children, Tony Rodenkirch of Fox Lake, John Rodenkirch of Beaver Dam, and Sarah Rodenkirch of Mayville; three step-children, Todd Kirst (Stacy Malnory), Tim (Shelly) Kirst, and Tami (Steve) Staehler all of Kewaskum; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Marlene Jackson, Nancy (Lowell) Jenz, and Mary (Willie) Weyker; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Thelen, Sharon Thelen, and Diane (Pete) Paitrick; a brother-in-law, Gary (Diana) Kirst; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Ronald, and Michael Thelen; a sister, Diane (Gerald) Lecher; two brothers-in-law, Donald Jackson and Vince Conroy.

A funeral service for Karen will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street, in Kewaskum with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiating.

Karen’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to Peace United Church of Christ are appreciated.
