Kati Hammen

April 12, 1988 — December 21, 2009

Kati Lynn Hammen, age 21, of Fredonia, passed away of an unexpected tragedy due to a prescription drug overdose on Monday, December 21, 2009 at her residence.

Kati was born on April 12, 1988 in West Bend to Larry and Karen (nee Alexander) Hammen. She attended school in Random Lake and graduated from Random Lake High School in 2006. In 2008 Kati earned a certificate as an Esthetician from Aveda/VICI Beauty School. Kati was very out going and bubbly. She enjoyed being social, talking to people, and making new friends. She enjoyed photography, crafting, quilting, and baking. She loved traveling to Florida, and had one day hoped to move there. To Kati she was always daddy's little girl. She loved nothing more in life than spending time with her son, either playing games or reading books.

Kati is survived by her fiancAC., Brad Baumann of Fredonia; her son, Calen Peter; her parents, Larry and Karen Hammen of Random Lake; and her brother Scott Hammen of Random Lake. She is further survived by her paternal grandparents, Willard and Bernice Hammen; her six uncles, Michael Alexander, David (Sue) Alexander, Tom (Liz) Alexander, Richard (Sally) Hammen, Jerry (Mary) Hammen, and Dale (Sandy) Hammen; her ten cousins, Stephanie (Matt) Gruber, Stacey (Mike) Lichtensteiger, Michael Alexander, Carly Alexander, Jeff (Robin) Hammen, Joel (Michael) Hammen, Jamie (Michelle) Hammen, Janine (Terry) Howell, Joshua Hammen, and Cassie Hammen; her fiancAC.'s parents, Mike and Lori Baumann and their family; and many other relatives and friends.

Kati was preceded in death by her grandad, James Alexander; her grandma, Corrine Alexander; and her aunt, Renee Alexander.

A funeral service in honor of Kati will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 4:00pm at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend). Rev. Robert Korytkowski of St. Andrew Lutheran Church will officiate and cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the time of service.

Memorials to S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) would be greatly appreciated by the family and will be used to educate Kati's local community about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

Every day many lives are destroyed by drugs and alcohol. Let Kati's death serve as a testimony to those who are trapped by addiction to get out while you still can.
