Kenneth F. Harter

Kenneth F. “Ken” Harter, 68, of Campbellsport, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at his home with his family at his side.


He was born on July 29, 1942, in Sheboygan county, the son of Marlin and Evangeline (Minz) Harter, and on May 23, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sandra “Sandy” Oppermann at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.


Ken was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. He was employed by Simplicity Manufacturing Inc. in Port Washington, retiring in 2006 after 27 years of service. Prior to his employment with Simplicity, Ken worked for Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum.

He will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment he received from fishing, bird watching and watching all types of car races. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.


Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Sandy; a daughter, Kristine (Joel) Carberry of Lakeville, Minnesota; his mother, Evangeline Harter of West Bend; two brothers, Donald Harter of West Bend and Gerald (Joan) Harter of Campbellsport; a sister, Donna (Roman) Ernst of Campbellsport; seven grandchildren, Matthew Smolinski, Amanda Smolinski, Jonathan Jaecks, Brandon Carberry, Shannon Carberry, Brittney Carberry and Victoria Drehmel, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Ken was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Harter; a daughter, Brenda Harter and his father.


Funeral services for Ken were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Rev. Kurt Ziemann officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from noon until the time of services.
