Kenneth E. Stelzel, 81, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg.
He was born on August 13, 1927, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Edwin and Norma (Pollnow) Stelzel, and on April 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Caroline Gretza at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the U. S. Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, China Marines, the Chosin Few of Wisconsin, the First Marines Division Association, Sons of the Union Veterans, the American Legion Milwaukee Road Post 1 and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Kenneth was employed by the railroad retiring after 42 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Caroline; five children, Michael Stelzel of Roanoke, Virginia, Patricia Stelzel of Glendale, Dennis Stelzel of Kewaskum, Frank (Bonnie) Stelzel of Milwaukee and Keven Stelzel of Menomonee Falls; six grandchildren, Ann Marie (James) Richerson, Angelina Campagna, Christina Ann Schaad, Gretchen (Joe) Winterer, Paul Michael Stelzel (fiancée, Chrissy) and Cody Austin Stelzel; four great-grandchildren, Emily Rose and Hunter Campagna, Madeline Elizabeth Schaad and Jayde Stelzel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Stelzel and a sister, Doris Nofsinger.
A Memorial Mass for Kenneth was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Cremation took place. Burial of his cremains, with graveside military honor rites, followed Mass in St. Matthias Catholic Cemetery in the town of Auburn.
The family received visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
