Kenneth C. Race, 83, of Arbor Vitae, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at The Pavilion at Glacier Valley in Slinger.
He was born on November 27, 1930, in the town of Saukville, the son of the late Elmer and Irene (Schulze) Race, and on April 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marion Seideman at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Saukville.
Kenneth was a dairy farmer in Ozaukee and Dodge counties and received recognition as the Outstanding Young Farmer of Ozaukee County. He served as town chairman of the Town of Herman in Dodge county and was a volunteer fireman on the Iron Ridge Fire Department. Kenneth was a member of the Lions Club, the Cross Country Cruisers Snowmobile Club and was a snowmobile trail groomer. In recognition of his grooming efforts, Kenneth was inducted into the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame. Kenneth also served as president and vice president of the Vilas County Chamber of Commerce and was the owner of Wihega Resort in Arbor Vitae. Kenneth will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Kenneth leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Marion; five children, Kathleen (Mike) Matuszewski of Mayville, David (Patti) Race of Shawano, Judy (Bill) Mitchell of Waukesha, Cindy (Daniel) Fiedler of Colby and Jean (Tony) Brath of Iron Ridge; two sisters, Delores (Norman) Scheunemann of Manitowoc and Marlene (Vern) Shipley of Arizona, 11 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A private family gathering for Kenneth was held.
