Kenneth E. Kouri

Kenneth E. "Ken" Kouri, 91, of Malone, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.

He was born on June 10, 1923, in Chicago, the son of the late Charles and Angie (Scoff) Kouri, and in September 1948, he was united in marriage to Janett Grandman. Janett preceded Kenneth in death in 1989.

Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira.

Ken attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he played the position of half-back for the football team. Later he had the opportunity to play professional football with the Detroit Lions. Ken was employed by Krohler Manufacturing Company, a furniture-making company, for 42 years. He was an avid sportsman and Green Bay Packer fan. Ken even enjoyed a car ride with Curly Lambeau to Green Bay and loved to play golf.

Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory include two children, Curt (Teri) Kouri of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Renee (Carl) Schultz of Tipton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Majcen (special friend, Don Hollenbeck) of Rancho Cucamonga, California; a sister-in-law, Mary Kouri of Naperville, Illinois; six nieces; ten nephews; his extended family, Carol (Gene) Wagner of Malone and her children, Craig (Cammie) Vandermolen of Fond du Lac and Brian (Jennifer) Vandermolen of Washington, Pennsylvania and Carol’s eight grandchildren, a life-long friend, Norman Stein, Ken’s very important extended Badger gang family, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ken was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Ralph Kouri; a brother-in-law, Joe Majcen and a grandchild.

A Memorial Service for Ken was held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. Rev. Kerry Wilson officiated and burial, with military honor rites, of Ken's cremains followed the service in Salem Cemetery in Lomira.

Ken's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from noon until the time of services.

The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Ken's arrangements.
