Kenneth J. “Ken” Connor, a great husband, my sweetheart of 63 years, and loving father, grandfather, and follower of Jesus, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2024 with his family at his bedside.
Born on December 23, 1937 in Milwaukee to Sylvia (nee Krause) Connor, Ken attended North Division High School in Milwaukee, and then went on to work with Adelman carpet cleaning company since 1960 and was in charge of their fleet of vehicles with repairs and general maintenance, Ken was the go-to guru. He then went on to be the Vice President of Sales at Adelman. Ken was a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and was knowledgeable with his hands, he could fix anything, and was more than willing to help anyone with anything they needed.
Ken met Gerry Schildt at the Wisconsin Tabernacle Church and the two were wed at that very church on June 25, 1960. They built a wonderful life together, growing in love with each other and Jesus. Over their 63 ½ years of marriage, they built a loving family and enjoyed sharing a lifetime of experiences together.
In his early years, Ken enjoyed hitting the open road on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he got when he first got his license. He sold the Harley when his family grew, so that he could share even more special moments with them. Ken bought Gerry a red Oldsmobile convertible, and that car was the root of interest for many. The two shared many great memories cruising the country in that car.
Ken and Gerry loved traveling and camping, and they would find themselves in the serenity of nature; their favorite camping site being Governor Dodge State Park. The two would travel through the US, driving and taking in all the sights. They also enjoyed vacations, cruises, Hawaii, and Disney World. One Christmas, Ken and Gerry took the whole family to Disney World and had so many great memories from that trip. Ken loved many things, but most of all, he loved Jesus and his family. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Ken’s loving and caring sweetheart, Gerry, survives him; as well as his children, Beth Bourne, Jeff Connor, and Keri (Tony) Dudek; grandchildren, Paige (JJ Gatesman) Bourne, and Jenna, Megan, and Dylan Dudek; sister, Darlene (the late Alan) Cohan; special brother- and sister-in-law, Dave (Doreen) Schildt; and his extended family and special friends.
Meeting Ken in heaven include his loving mother, Sylvia; Ken was a special son-in-law to Gerry’s parents, Howie and Millie Schildt; and sister-in-law, Carol (Don) Learned.
At this time, the family requests you honor Ken in your memories and prayers while a memorial service is being planned for later in the year. Please check back for details.
In Ken’s memory, instead of flowers, donations are appreciated to: ETHNOS360 , NewTribes Mission , ECFA , and Samaritan’s Purse .
