Kurt E. Halvorsen

October 8, 1974 — June 7, 2018

Kurt E. Halvorsen, 43, of Fredonia, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Kurt was born on October 8, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leif and Cathy (nee Carlson) Halvorsen. On June 26, 1999, he was united in marriage to Kristine Stevens in Wheeling, Illinois.

Kurt grew up in Elmwood Park, IL and was proud to be an EP tiger!  He has shared many stories from the stomping grounds and of the “good old days”.

Kurt attended ISU before graduating from Moody Bible Institute. He was a dedicated youth pastor at Terrace Shores EFC, Bensenville Bible Church, and Springbrook Community Church.   He was called into Camping Ministry and became the Executive Director at Camp Awana. He was a role model, mentor, and friend.

Kurt was known best for his love for Christ, his never ending devotion to his family, his “fan”-tastic dad jokes and his love of the 80’s.  Kurt was a fan of all things Chicago; Pizza, Sports, The Cubs, Rosebud, Chicago Hotdogs, the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Sweet Baby Rays, Bulls and the Cubs.

Kurt Halvorsen was a rare man whose life fully exemplified what it means to live as a man of God. He modeled Christ in all that he did.  He was a loving husband and the “best Daddy ever”.

Those Kurt leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Kristy; three children, Bryce, Trent, and Mackenzie Halvorsen; a brother, Brent (Lisa) Halvorsen; four nieces and nephews, Mariah, Nathan, Seth, and Ainsley Halvorsen; a sister-in-law, Stacie (Carl) Seelye; his mother and step-father, Cathy (Ron) Oakes; his mother-in-law, Ruth (Jim) Patton; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father, Leif Halvorsen and his father-in-law, Gary Stevens.

Funeral services for Kurt will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Kettlebrook Church, 2378 W. Washington Street West Bend, WI 53095.

Kurt’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
