Laurie L. Elm

January 28, 1952 — September 3, 2008

Laurie L. Elm, nee Gray, 56, of Milwaukee, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Kathy Hospice, West Bend after a courageous battle with cancer. Laurie never openly complained of her pain, and always put her family first. Laurie, a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend left behind many wonderful memories. We will miss her spunkiness.

She was born on January 28, 1952 in Milwaukee to the late Charles and Bridget "Betty" (nee Moran) Gray. She worked in food service for the Milwaukee Public School System for many years until retiring in 2006.

She is survived by her best friend, Patrick, with whom she recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. She and Patrick met when they were teenagers, and they enjoyed every minute of their journey. Laurie was Patrick's counterbalance and soul-mate. Laurie is also survived by four children, Patrick (Janelle) Elm, Jr., Michael Elm, Kelly (Brian) McAndrews, and Anthony (Mariah) Elm; 12 grandchildren, Alexandria, Davin, Teighlor, Nathan, Dakota, Elliot, Miranda, Makenzie, Leland, Cameron, Nodin and Elijah; a sister, Heather "Rusty" Schultz; numerous relatives and special friends. Laurie's most important mission was to love and spoil her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence Gray and Charles Gray III.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church (3160 S. 63rd St., Milwaukee) with Father Ken Omernick officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Laurie, surrounded by her family in her final moments, whispered, "I love you." We love you too, Laurie.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Kathy Hospice and Dr. Gary Herdrich for the wonderful care given to Laurie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Kathy Hospice (3232 Pleasant Valley Rd., West Bend, WI 53095) are appreciated.
