Lavern "Vern" Hoffman

July 18, 1924 — April 22, 2006

LaVern "Vern" Hoffman, 81, of West Bend, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 at his residence.

He was born on July 18, 1924 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Louis and Emma (nee DePow) Hoffman. He served the U.S. Navy as a medical photographer and corpsman during the Korean War. He was a self-employed microscope salesman, operating his business, Micro Sale, for many years. Vern was united in marriage to Leonida Nicdao on February 9, 1992 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.

He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 46 years. Vern was the chairman of the Knights of Columbus Sunshine Committee for many years, until he was unable to continue due to his health. He enjoyed photography as a hobby and he also enjoyed model trains and railroads.

He is survived by his wife, Leonida, a sister, Therese Ruff, other relatives and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, with Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend, on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
