LaVerne Isabelle Cook, nee Meide, age 83, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Samaritan Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.
She was born on March 11, 1928 in Hankinson, ND to the late Emil and Anna (nee Krause) Meide. On September 20, 1947, Laverne was united in marriage to Donald Cook in Milwaukee.
She worked as a bakery manager for various grocery stores in Milwaukee until retiring in 1985.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Donald of West Bend; five children, Wendy Dempsey of Jackson, Allen (Chris) Cook of Milwaukee, Cynthia (James) Mohns of Colgate, Robert (Becky) Cook of Theresa, and Cheri (Larry) Poad of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Michialle Dick, Angie Thornton, Kristin (Ryan) Liddell, Matthew (Mariel) Mohns, Andrew (Jodi) Cook, Kayla (Jesse) Kanas, Jake Poad, and Danielle Poad; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Abigale, Nathan, Mackenzie and Levi; one sister, Madonna (John) Demerath of Cedarburg; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Harris of Mosinee and Geri Kuenhner of Wausau; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services in remembrance of LaVerne will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 3:00 p.m. at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Rev. Jerry Repenshek will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Valhalla Memorial Park, Milwaukee.
