LaVerne L. Schaub, 81, of New Fane, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk with her family at her side.
She was born on November 29, 1931, in the town of Auburn, the daughter of the late Norbert and Laura (Backhaus) Gatzke, and on May 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Lester Schaub at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.
LaVerne was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. She had various jobs throughout her life with the latest being at Serigraph. LaVerne enjoyed handy work, especially knitting, crocheting and counted cross stitch.
Those LaVerne leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 59 years, Lester; four children, Karen (Barry) Lee, Connie (John) Corrao, Mark (Peggy) Schaub and Laurie (Allen) Paul; seven grandchildren, Angie Butzke, Chad (Tricia) Butzke, Carrie (Morgan) Schaub, Michael Morton, Jeremy Gurholt, Kimberly (Michael) Paul and Kayla (Marie) Paul; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Walker, Izabela Butzke and Jax Butzke; a brother, Delmar (Anita) Gatzke, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for LaVerne was held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and burial of her cremains was in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Fane at a later date.
LaVerne’s family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with LaVerne’s arrangements.
