Leo J. Bonlender, 89, of Kewaskum, entered in eternal life on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at his home.
He was born on March 8, 1925, in St. Killian, the son of the late Ervin and Margaret (Heisler) Bonlender. Leo was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He drove truck for Kewaskum Dairy for many years and for the past 30 years helped on the family farm. In his retirement Leo also bartended at the Fireside Restaurant. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Leo was an avid Brewers and Packers fan, he even got to attend the famous Ice Bowl of 1967. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards.
Those Leo leaves behind to cherish his memory include two sisters, Florence Plagemann of Mayville and Fern (Karl) Ryan of Eden; a brother, Joseph (Louise) Bonlender of Campbellsport; a sister-in-law, Doris Bonlender of Kewaskum, 21 nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret (Andrew) Bonlender; three brothers, Harold (Eileen) Bonlender, Ervin (Betty) Bonlender and Robert Bonlender; a brother-in-law, Donald Plagemann; two nephews and a niece.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Leo's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic Church are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Leo's arrangements.
