Leo P. "Lee" Jaeger, 88 of West Bend, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 at River Way Place in West Bend surrounded by family.
He was born on June 27, 1922 in West Bend to the late Harry and Clara (nee May) Jaeger and he graduated from Holy Angles Graded School and West Bend High School in the class of 1940. Lee attended Marquette University where he studied engineering for two years and then attended Princeton University for one year until being drafted into the United States Army. He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during WWII in the European theater.
On January 4, 1944 he was united in marriage with Margaret Held. Together they owned and operated Leo P. Jaeger Road Construction Inc. of West Bend. Upon retirement, they moved to Phoenix, AZ where Lee worked for the State of Arizona Dept. of Land Use and Development. They returned to West Bend in 2006 and Margaret passed away on January 9, 2009.
Lee enjoyed and appreciated the National Parks across the U.S. during many road trips, watching his grandchildren in sports, visiting his daughter Linda's family in Germany, gardening and sports.
Lee is survived by three children, Linda (Hermann) Noerr of Rothenburg ODT Germany, Pamela (Jon) Sanfilippo of Slinger, and Bonnie (Chuck) Hudson of South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Jaeger; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Lee, Jill (Mike) Quinn, Dawn (Art) Meyer, Mandy Zitkovich, Kerri (Robert) Loduha, Jamie Johnson, Pieter Noerr, David Noerr, Jessica (Greg) Silva, Jennifer Sanfilippo, Laurie Desmond, Lindsay Desmond, and Kacie Compton; 14 great-grandchildren, Brianna (Blake) McMinn, Christopher Quinn, Kyndel Lee, Autumn Lee, Antonio Meyer, Alea Meyer, Tre Meyer, Brianna Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Joshua Zitkovich, Paige Zitkovich, Ethan Loduha, Naomi Loduha, and Isabella Loduha, and great-great grandson Talon Lee; a sister-in-law, Donna (David) Blanke; a brother-in-law, Raymond Griesemer; many other relatives and dear friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and son, Jody Michael Jaeger.
A memorial service in honor of Lee will be held in spring with interment at Holy Angles Cemetery.
Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society or charity of choice are appreciated.
