Leon G. Thull, 56, of the town of Farmington, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at his home.
He was born on June 25, 1953, in West Bend, the son of Norbert and Marylin (Heilmann) Thull.
Leon was the current owner and operator of Dairymen’s Corner in Campbellsport providing service to area farmers for 20 years.
Leon became a loyal member of the Boltonville Fire Department on December 6, 1979, and was currently assigned to truck 2384. He served the department in various capacities including director, president and was presently serving as lieutenant. He was a dedicated committee worker for the department’s annual picnic and street dance fundraisers, and was instrumental in the success of both events.
Leon was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels and served as a friendly hospitality minister. He was an active member of the New Fane Kettle Riders, New Fane Sportsman’s Club, Boltonville Sportsman’s Club and was a member of the Moose Lodge West Bend 1398.
Leon enjoyed helping others, Packer games, hunting and snowmobiling. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, his uncle, cousins, fire department members, customers, other relatives and many friends.
Those Leon leaves behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Marylin of West Bend; his brothers and sisters, Sue (Ralph) Deppiesse of Random Lake, Craig (Lois) Thull of Campbellsport, Gale Thull (Don Guzan) of Spring Grove, Illinois, Janine Thull (Jeff Richter) of Mandan, North Dakota, Gary (Doreen) Thull of Howard, Pennsylvania, Geralyn (Ron) Fromm of Port Washington, Kevin (Lynn) Thull of St. Michaels and Adrianne (Ron) Theusch of Alden, Minnesota and a sister-in-law, Vicky Thull of Campbellsport.
Leon was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Alan.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leon was held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road, Kewaskum (St. Michaels). Father Edwin Kornath officiated and cremation followed. Burial of his cremains will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., where a prayer vigil will be held at 8:00 p.m. Visitation continued at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
