Leona E. Batzler, 88, of the town of Barton, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
She was born on April 15, 1926, in the town of Barton, the daughter of the late Edwin and Marie (Staehler) Matenaer, and on June 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Allan Batzler at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Barton .
Leona was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Guild and Christian Mothers at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Leona was a loving mother and grandmother. She will fondly be remembered as someone who enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, playing cards and fishing.
Those Leona leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 years, Allan; four children, Gary Batzler of the town Barton, Jane Korth of Kewaskum, Pam (Terry) Jobe of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Lisa (Jack) Schroeder of Belgium; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew and Madeline Jobe, Katelyn and Michael Korth; two brothers, Norman Matenaer and Steve (Margaret) Matenaer both of West Bend; two sisters, Mary (Paul) Wassenberg of Menomonee Falls and Carol (Donald) Winninghoff of Woodruff; a sister-in-law, Estelle Matenaer of St. Michaels, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her sister, Adeline (Ed) Volm; two brothers, Francis (Betty) Matenaer and Ralph Matenaer; a sister-in-law, Gene Matenaer and a brother-in-law, Ray Yarnig.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leona was held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend. Father Nathan Reesman and Father Dennis Van Beek concelebrated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Leona's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or St. Mary's Catholic School are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Leona's arrangements.
