Leroy “Lee” Bohn, 88, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 after struggling with Alzheimer’s disease for several years.
He was born on February 8, 1926 in Barton to the late Alfred and Agnes (nee Neuy) Bohn. Lee served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Barton VFW Post #8658.
On July 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Sylvia “Tibbie” Matenaer at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend.
Lee worked as a television and radio technician at Barton TV and Steiner Electric in West Bend for many years. He was a member of the West Bend Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad for many years and he also taught first aid classes for the Red Cross.
He was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend. Lee was the first Boy Scout leader at St. Frances Cabrini and he also served as President of Young at Heart at St. Frances Cabrini. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Caspar Rehrl Council No.1964 for many years. He was also a volunteer at The Threshold Inc. for many years.
Lee and Tibbie enjoyed camping and were active members of the West Bend VagaBender camping group. Lee had a great sense of humor and was always making people smile.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia “Tibbie”; six children, Terry (Ruth) Bohn, Pat (Deb) Bohn, Diane (Alex) Ckonjevic, Ken (Sandy) Bohn, Jeff Bohn, and Mary (Doug) Bilgo; 13 grandchildren, Kerri jo (Bob) Patten, Stefanie (Phil) Shierk, Kaitlin Bohn, Michael Bohn, Jason (Christine) Strebe, Cory (Stephanie) Strebe, Nick Bohn, Wesley Bohn, Marina Bohn, Courtney Bohn, Kim (Tedi) Keceli, Whitney (Alex) Bretl, and Danielle Bilgo; eight great-grandchildren, Evan and Elise Patten, Whitney and Wilson Shierk, Devon, Ethan and Xander Strebe, and Elza Keceli; three brothers, Carl Bohn, Robert (Martha) Bohn, and Donald (Joann) Bohn; seven sisters-in-law, Beatrice Peter, Rita Dwyer, Ann Casper, Diane Pfister, Kitty Matenaer, Ruth Bohn, and Janice Matenaer; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Donna) Matenaer, Robert (Carol) Matenaer; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Bohn; a sister, Bernice (Richard) Kurowski; two brothers, Eugene Bohn and Walter (Helen) Bohn; two sisters-in-law, Doris Bohn and Euna Matenaer; and six brothers-in-law, Leonard Peter, Charles Dwyer, Paul Matenaer, Herman Casper, Jerry Matenaer, and James Matenaer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend. Rev. Nathan Reesman will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Bend. Visitation will be at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, on Monday, February 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

For those who knew our Dad and for those who didn’t, he was a great Father to all seven of us. He had a loving wife that stood by his side until the end. We couldn’t have asked for a better Dad, he was the best and always made us proud. May he rest in peace, we love you Dad.
