Leroy W. Heider Sr., age 86, of West Bend, was called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on December 11, 1927 in the Town of Barton to the late William and Melinda (nee Engleiter) Heider. On September 27, 1947, Leroy was united in marriage to Romilda Marquardt at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Together they started their family. Leroy worked at Gehl Company for 35 years and was a member of the Hexelbank club and served as Treasurer of the Gehl Employee club for many years. He also drove school bus for Johnson Bus Company in West Bend for 47 years. He enjoyed traveling, bluegill fishing, and spending time at their cabin up north. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed attending their many activities.
He is survived by his four children, Beverly (Marvin) Berndt, Jr. of West Bend, LeRoy (Char) Heider Jr. of West Bend, Robert (Lisa) Heider of West Bend, and Daniel (Maureen) Heider of Lodi; six grandchildren, Jason Berndt, Kelly (Ben) Lukes, Elizabeth, Amber, Hannah, and Amelia Heider; a sister in law, Marie Heider; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Romilda; his sister, Lucille (Wallace) Kurth; his brother, Earl Heider; and a granddaughter, Amy Berndt.
Funeral services in remembrance of Leroy will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 6:30 pm at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive, Kewaskum. Rev. Troy Swenson will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Lutheran Memorial Park, Kewaskum.
