LeRoy Muckerheide, age 87, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on July 18, 1923 on the family farm in the town of Kewaskum to the late Miles and Theckla Muckerheide. LeRoy graduated from Kewaskum High School in the class of 1942. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was stationed in Japan. On October 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Ruth Hatzung at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He worked for McGraw-Edison as a shipping clerk for 19 years before he began working for Tennis Ace Hardware.
LeRoy was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was a member of the American Legion Robert G. Romaine Post 384 as well as the Modern Woodman for 70 years and was a former member of Dezmont (protection of the desert, oceans, and mountains) which is part of UCLA. LeRoy enjoyed playing cards, traveling, spending time at his place up north, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his sister, Marion Muckerheide of Kewaskum; his brother-in-law, Leander Willkomm of West Bend; a special niece, Sheila (Dennis) Stahnke of West Bend; two nieces, Janyce Weaver of McFarland and Lori (Daniel) Montaine of Grafton; three nephews, Kenneth (Dorothy) Willkomm of Rochester, MN, Robert (Gayle) Willkomm of New Berlin, WI and Alan Willkomm of Rockford, IL; his great niece and great nephew, Melissa and Ryan Stahnke of West Bend; and many other relatives and friends.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Ruth; three sisters-in-law, Mardell Watzlawick, Bernice Willkomm and Esther (Alfred) David; a brother-in-law, Arthur (Olga) Hatzung; and a nephew, Thomas Watzlawick.
Funeral services in remembrance of LeRoy will be held on Sunday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Avenue, West Bend. Rev. Jeff Dorth will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be Monday at 10:00 am in Washington County Memorial Park. Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice are appreciated by the family.
