Lester W. Muehlius, 87, of Lomira, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
He was born on March 24, 1922, in the town of Lomira, the son of the late William and Mildred (Mintner) Muehlius. Lester was a 1941 graduate of Lomira High School, and on May 19, 1945, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Gasper at Salem Methodist Church in Lomira.
The couple farmed in the town of Lomira and Lester was a rural mail carrier for over 20 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira, the Lomira Lions Club, a past member of the CESA Board of Control and a past member of the Lomira School Board where he served for 24 years.
Lester enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Katherine (Lyle) Davies of Eldorado and Patricia (John) Freund of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Davies, Kimberly (Dustin) Robinet, Sarah Freund, Ashley Freund (special friend, Eric) and Matthew Freund; three great-granddaughters, Katherine, Emily and Evelyn Davies; a sister-in-law, Elaine Muehlius of Lomira; five special nieces, Sue O’Connor, Sally Muehlius, Mary Muehlius, Margaret Muehlius and Tricia Newland, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Muehlius.
Funeral services for Lester will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street in Lomira. Rev. John Hobbins will officiate and entombment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
