Lisa Marie Martin, 19, of Theresa, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Iowa from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
She was born on April 1, 1989, in Illinois, the daughter of John Martin and Amy (Driscoll) Ruppel. Lisa was a 2007 graduate of Lomira High School, where she was actively involved as a cheerleading captain, cheerleading for the wrestling team, theater and was a member of the Lomira Choir. She qualified for and attended the Capital One Bowl half-time show in Orlando, Florida in 2006.
Lisa was in her second year of nursing studies at the University of Dubuque in Iowa and was the Residential Advisor of her dormitory in Dubuque. Lisa was the founder and captain of the University of Dubuque Dance Team.
Before she left for college, Lisa worked as a CNA at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and was a volunteer for two years at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. Lisa provided cheerleading training at the Aquatic Center in Fond du Lac. She was the Theresa and Dodge County Firefighter queen along with being the 2007 Winterfest queen.
Lisa was pleasant, respectful and a motivated young person. She had great potential and was an optimist and a realist. These traits combined with her determination to succeed made an awesome impression on everyone she touched along the way. Lisa lived life to the fullest.
Lisa leaves behind her parents, Amy (Jerome) Ruppel of Theresa and John Martin of Chicago, Illinois; a brother, Jacob Ruppel of Theresa; a special loving friend, Eric Mayher of New Holstein; her maternal grandfather, Paul Driscoll of Frankfort, Illinois; her maternal grandparents, Donna and Richard Suszek of Waupun; her paternal grandmother, Peggy Martin of Chicago, Illinois; her maternal great-grandmother, Jennie Ludwig of Villa Park, Illinois, other relatives, classmates and many friends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Donald Martin and her maternal great-grandfather, Chester Ludwig.
Funeral services for Lisa were held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street in Lomira. Rev. John Hobbins officiated and cremation followed the service.
Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
