Lomira

Lloyd A. Bonlender, 87, of Lomira, was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk with his family at his side.

Lloyd Bonlender's story began on November 10, 1937, in the charming town of St. Kilian, where he was born on the family farm to the late Raymond and Josephine (nee Weiglein) Bonlender. He attended Kewaskum High School and went on to dedicate 11 years of service to his country in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of staff sergeant before his honorable discharge.

On September 27, 1958, he embarked on a lifelong journey with his beloved wife, Linda Unferth, as they tied the knot. Lloyd's career path showcased his versatility and dedication—starting as a farmer and field man, he transitioned into the art of cheese making and later rose to the role of Plant Manager at Heim Cheese Company in Lowell, Wisconsin.

Lloyd found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including his passion for sheepshead, a card game he enjoyed playing with family during cherished gatherings. An adventurous spirit, he embraced the beauty of travel, exploring numerous destinations across the United States—from the sunny shores of Florida and Arizona to the lush landscapes of Hawaii, the vibrant culture of Missouri and Tennessee, and the serene Poconos of Pennsylvania. His life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and a love for the moments that truly matter.

Those Lloyd leaves behind to cherish his memory include five children, Loren Bonlender of Beaver Dam, Lance (Cyndi) Bonlender of Tucson, Arizona, Lonnie Bonlender of Lomira, Lori (Chris Bailey) Bonlender of Beaver Dam, and Tally Bonlender of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bonlender, Erin Unseth, Tyler Bonlender, and Crystal Fuentes; six great-grandchildren, Noel, Angel, Zachary, Zeus, Hunter, and Cameron; a sisters, Diane Flasch; two sisters-in-law, Betty Schrauth and Rosemary Schrauth; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his son, Leon Bonlender; two brothers; one sister; and two brothers-in-law.
