Lorena Caroline Kell

January 4, 1909 — July 5, 2008

Lorena C. Kell, (nee Zimmel), age 99, of West Bend, passed away Saturday July 5, 2008 at the Samaritan Health Center.

She was born on January 4, 1909 in the Town of Wayne to the late Herman and Louisa (nee Hoepner) Zimmel, and was united in marriage to John Kell on September 9, 1929 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Wayne, where she was a life long member.

Lorena and John farmed in the Allenton area until moving to West Bend in 1952. Lorena then began working at the Amity Company for 21 years until her retirement in 1973. John preceded her in death in 1987.

Lorena enjoyed all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, and made Afghans for all the grandchildren and new babies. Lorena liked playing cards and was a good cook.

She is survived by two children, Shawn (Lorraine) Kell, and Sandra (Paul) Hetebrueg, both of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Kerry (Char) Kell of West Bend, Pamela Kell of West Bend, Kim Skelton of Richmond, VA, Rick (Sue) Kell of West Bend, Tammy Kell of Elkhardt, IN, Shelly Kell of West Bend, Todd (Helen) Schweizer of Delta, CO, Scott (Pat) Schweizer of West Bend, Jody Bender of West Bend, and Tracy (Michelle) Hetebrueg of West Bend; Special friend, Sue Schoedel of West Bend; along with 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harry Eberl of Port Washington; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanore Justman, Erna Lied, and Vio Darmody; and two brothers, Alfred and Arnold.

Funeral services in remembrance of Lorena will be held on Tuesday July 8th at 10:30 am at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church (6438 Hwy. D Allenton). Rev. Steven Bode will officiate and burial will follow in Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Tuesday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Memorials to Zion Church are appreciated.
