Loretta W. Houting (nee Kletti), 96, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Cedar Community, in the town of West Bend.
She was born on September 11, 1918 to the late Jacob and Alma (nee Rheingans) Kletti in Milwaukee. She graduated from Wauwatosa East High School in 1936. After business school, she began work at the Marine National Exchange Bank where she met Lewis D. Houting. They were united in marriage on April 19, 1941 at Bethel Evangelical Church in Milwaukee. Lewis and Loretta and their family lived in Wauwatosa. The family enjoyed many weekends at her father's cottages on Cedar Lake. They moved to Waukesha in 1963 when Lewis was asked to open a branch there. She was member of E & R UCC Church where she was active in the church choir and Priscilla Circle. She belonged to the Waukesha Service Club, Mary Gardeners, and was Past President of the Practical Club of Waukesha, and Past President of the Church Women United of Waukesha. After retirement in 1983, Lewis and Loretta moved to independent living at Cedar Campus where she was active in volunteer work, the village choir, and was Secretary of the Residence Council. Loretta was a member of Peace UCC in Kewaskum. She enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble with her friends and entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They enjoyed many years of friendship and travel. In 1991 they celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Manny) Marczak; Son, Peter (Patricia Knight) Houting; six grandchildren, Daniel (Karen Cord), Gregory (Chrissy Sarro), Kenneth Lewis Houting, Jason (Lindsay Weil) Marczak, Allison Marks, and David Stern; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Lewis D. Houting; two brothers, Roman and Arthur Kletti.
A memorial service in remembrance of Loretta will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First St, Kewaskum. Visitation will be at the church from12:00 pm until the time of service. Inurnment was held at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
Memorials can be given to Peace UCC or to Cedar Community.
