Lorraine Bruni, nee Casalese, age 78, of Mayville, passed away unexpectedly while visiting her family in Ceccano, Italy and found her eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2014.
She was born on May 20, 1936, in Ceccano, Italy to the late Antonio and Maria (nee Pacioni) Casalese. Lorraine was united in marriage to Vincent Bruni on April 16, 1955 at St. Giovanni Catholic Church in their home town.
In January of 1957, Lorraine and Vincent and their baby Domenic immigrated by boat to the United States. They settled in Waukesha and they raised their family and spent many happy years together during which time Lorraine worked as a tailor at Robert Hall, Richmond Brothers and Boston Store. Lorraine and Vincent later sold their home in Waukesha and moved to Mayville to be closer to their family.
Lorraine loved her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was proud of her Italian heritage which she called on in her wonderful cooking and her baking of amazing traditional Italian cookies. A devout Catholic, Lorraine attended Mass regularly and volunteered her time and talents to her Parish. Lorraine also volunteered her time and talents to her community by sewing costumes for Mayville Children's Theater, Mayville Show Choir, and other school events.
Lorraine is survived by her three children, Domenic (Jacki) Bruni of Oshkosh, Maris (Barbara) Bruni of McKinney, TX, and Maria (Patrick) Madden of Mayville; seven grandchildren, Gian and Dante Bruni, Matt Bruni, and Vincent, Spencer, Maggie, and Catherine Madden; and one great-grandchild, Dorian Bruni. She is further survived by a brother, Giuseppe Casalese, as well as many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vincent, a grandson, Tony Bruni, and a sister, Giovanna Pizzuti.
A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Lorraine will be held on Saturday, August 30 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville. Father Tom Biersack will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, on Tuesday, September 2 at 4:00 p.m.
