Lorraine A. Wegner, (nee Habeck), age 89, of West Bend, passed away Thursday September 6, 2007 at the Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on September 10, 1917 in Kewaskum to the late Adolph and Olga (nee Schultz) Habeck. Lorraine graduated from Kewaskum High School in the class of 1937, and on November 24, 1937 was united in marriage to Willard Wegner at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Together they made their home in West Bend and Lorraine became a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.
Her many church activities included the ladies Aid, Ladies Guild, Alter Guild, Choir, Sunday school and VBS teacher, bible class leader, and for many years was a part time church secretary. Lorraine graduated from and later taught the Bethel Series. She also worked at the voting polls during elections for many years. She was creative and enjoyed working on different crafts such as afghans, cross-stitch, and sewing. With all this going on she placed her main occupation as that of homemaker and caregiver for her family.
Lorraine is survived by two children, Carol (Ron) Bierman of New Berlin, and Robert A. (Maren) Wegner PhD of Blue Mounds; five grandchildren, Carey Remich, Scott Remich, Mark (Debbie) Remich, Melanie (Robert) Weber, and Serena Wegner; two step-grandchildren, Kay Jens and Amy (Randy) Stehr; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Remich, Kyle Remich, David Remich, and R.J. Weber; five step-great-grandchildren, Samantha and Katie Jens, Missy, Ericka and Jacob Stehr; a niece, Ruth Ann (John) Gehl; a nephew, Bernie Habeck; Lorraine's cat "Kitty"; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard, and a brother and his wife, Ralph (Hildegarde) Habeck.
Funeral services to remember Lorraine's life will be held on Monday September 10th at 11:00 am at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend (809 S. 6th St.). Rev. George Mumm will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday at the church only from 9:00 am until the time of service.
