Lt. Col. Beulah E. Schloemer, age 91, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
She was born in West Bend on April 3, 1914 to the late Henry and Julia (nee Schubert) Schloemer. She graduated from West Bend High School class of 1932 and later graduated from Mt. Sinai School of Nursing. In 1937 she enlisted in the United States Army as a nurse. Beulah served in the Pacific Theater of operation during WW II. While in the Pacific she was awarded the Bronze Star. She remained in the Army after WW II serving in both the United States and Germany. Beulah retired after 20 years of service in 1957 as a Lt. Col and Chief of Nurses.
Beulah was a life long member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and a Pioneer Leader for over 15 years. She was a member of the American Association of Military Surgeons, and the American Nurses Association.
Beulah is survived by her sister, Ione (Paul) Guth of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Louise S. (John) Roth of West Bend; two nieces, Julie T. Guth of Brainerd, MN, and Joan Ganzel of Big Cedar Lake; a nephew, James (Andrea) Schloemer of Fox Point; a step-niece, Penny Fitzsimmons of West Bend; a step-nephew, John (Marcia) Harth of Anchorage, AK; three great nieces, Laura Schloemer, Susan (John) Schloemer-Bussey, and Tessa Schloemer; two great nephews, Michael Schloemer and Thomas Schloemer, along with one great-great niece and one great-great-nephew; her cherished extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice Schloemer and Vernon Schloemer; a sister-in-law, Helen Schloemer; and a nephew, Thomas Schloemer.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. George Mumm will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, West Bend, on Monday at 10:00 am. Visitation will be at the church only from 2:00 pm until the time of service.
