Lucille M. Kurth, 87, of West Bend, went home peacefully to her Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Samaritan Health Center.
She was born on September 15, 1926, in the Town of Barton, the daughter of William and Malinda (nee Engeleiter) Heider. On August 20, 1947 she married Wallace Kurth, Sr. in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they made their home in West Bend.
Lucille was a devoted housewife and mother. She was an avid cook, baker, seamstress, and vegetable/flower gardener for many, many years. She and Wally also enjoyed fishing and traveling to Arizona to visit their daughter. Both were devout churchgoers and members of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and served for numerous years on the church's communion committee. Lucille also taught Sunday School at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Bend, for many years.
Lucille is survived by two children, Wallace (Mary) Kurth, Jr. of Iron Ridge, and Linda A. Kurth of Tempe, Arizona; a grandson, Mark Kurth; three amazing great-grandchildren, Hannah, Asher, and Malachi, and their mother, Tanya Kurth; a brother, LeRoy Heider of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Marie Heider; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, in 2002; her brother, Earl Heider, in 2010, and her sister-in-law, Romilda Heider, in 2013.
A funeral service in memory of Lucille will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. Rev. Robert Hein will officiate and burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
