Lucille V. Nigh, 88, of Kewaskum, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 17, 1925, in Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Becker) Schoofs, and on June 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Nathan J. Nigh at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Nathan preceded Lucille in death on February 11, 2001.
Lucille was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum and was a member of the women singing group, Sweet Sixties.
Those Lucille leaves behind to cherish her memory include 15 children, Sister Lucy Nigh of Douglas, Arizona, Nancy (Bob) Punzenberger of West Bend, Carol (Peter) Polverini of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Perry (Julie) Nigh of Oak Creek, Michael (Debbie) Nigh of Kewaskum, Julie (Greg) Ogi of Kewaskum, Joseph (Daniela) Nigh of Cottage Grove, Nathalie Ertel of Kewaskum, Susan (Jim) Franz of Schaumburg, Illinois, Kevin Nigh of Kewaskum, Jeffrey (Carol) Nigh of Kewaskum, Teresa (Brian) Dreher of Campbellsport, Amy (Ric) Leitheiser of West Bend, Sandy (Steve) Seitz of Campbellsport and Paul (Tara) Nigh of West Bend; two brothers, Ralph (Pat) Schoofs of Hartford and Allen (Paula) Schoofs of Kewaskum; two sisters, Katie Vitrano of Milwaukee and Anna Nigh of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Francis Volm of Kewaskum; a sister-in law, Bernice Schoofs of West Bend; a special friend, Gloria Nigh of Greendale, 34 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by a son, Tommy; four brothers, Ted (Helen) Schoofs, E.A. "Dick" (Bea) Schoofs, Joe (Charlotte) Schoofs and Francis Schoofs; two sisters, Dorothy Volm and Lona (Joe) Retzer; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Vitrano and Gregor Nigh and two grandsons, David Leitheiser and Charlie Ogi.
A Memorial Mass for Lucille was held at noon on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial of her cremains will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
The Nigh family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) at 30 E. Padonia Road, Suite 201, T imonium, MD 21093 or Cedar Community Hospice are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Lucille's arrangements.
