Lyle O. Hartmann

February 16, 1920 — May 24, 2007

Lyle O. Hartmann, 87, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at his residence.

He was born February 16, 1920 in Little Kohler to the late Clarence and Hulda (nee Lillge) Hartmann. He was raised on the family homestead and enjoyed his years on the farm. On August 21, 1954 Lyle was united in marriage to Lorraine Deckliver in the town of Scott.

Lyle served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He was employed at the Tecumseh Company in Grafton for many years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, and the Waubeka V.F.W. Flag Day Post #7037.

Lyle and Lorraine loved dancing together and gatherings with family and friends. Lyle had a passion for nature and animals. Lyle enjoyed people. He would talk to everyone and no matter where he was he knew somebody. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, charm, and the twinkle in his eye.

Lyle was the dear father of Joan (Jim) Bertram of Campbellsport, Patricia (Rick) Bath of West Bend, and Daniel Hartmann of West Bend; and loving grandfather of four, Joseph Bertram of West Bend, Jason (Dawn) Bertram of Campbellsport, Jennifer Wagner of Florida, and Justin Bath of West Bend. He is further survived by his two great-granddaughters and special Angels, Brianna and Kayla; a son-in-law, Chris (Heidi) Wagner and their daughter, Bailey, of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Willard Deckliver of Cascade; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Lyle in death and preparing a place for him is his wife of 50 years, Lorraine; his daughter, Janelle Wagner; his parents, Clarence and Hulda Hartmann, his sister LaVern (Arthur) Mueller, his brother, Wallace (Mildred) Hartmann; parents-in-law, John and Ida Deckliver, and sister-in-law, Romell Deckliver.

A funeral service for Lyle will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Rev. Richard Lauersdorf of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.

Lyle's family would like to thank everyone for their support through these difficult months and especially the pastors of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church and the staff of St. Joseph's Hospital, Kathy Hospice and Heartland Hospice for their special and wonderful care. God bless you all.
