Lyle C. Manteufel

December 4, 1923 — December 10, 2004

Lyle C. Manteufel, 81, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1923 in Greenville to the late Henry and Rose (nee Palmbach) Manteufel. Lyle served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during WWII. On May 19, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernice Kind at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Gibson. After their marriage the couple lived in Maribel for 17 years. While living in Maribel, Lyle served as Village Clerk and he was also a charter member of the Maribel Sportsman Club. They then moved to Menomonee Falls where they lived for 30 years until moving to West Bend in 1994.

Lyle and his brother, Orin, owned and operated the Maribel Dairy and then a Verifine Dairy Distributorship in Milwaukee. Lyle was later employed at Veterans Trucking in Bristol until his retirement.

Lyle's life centered around his family. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards, especially Cribbage. He loved to laugh and was known to play jokes on people.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Gail (Thomas) Bartelt of Morrison, and Jody (Alan) Buttke of West Bend; three grandchildren, Charles (Kristin) Bartelt of Winneconne, Corey Bartelt of Morrison, and Dean (fiancAC.e Christina Seiser) Buttke of Iron Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Katelyn and Jacob Bartelt; a sister, Shirley (Bud) Ryan of Neenah; a brother-in-law, Vernon Kramer of California; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Orin Manteufel, and two sisters, Eunice Larsen and Doris Kramer.

Funeral services will be held on Mon. Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Myrhum - Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend. Rev. Warren Granke of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Menomonee Falls, will officiate and cremation will follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Mon. from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
