M. Caroline Jacobs

M. Caroline Jacobs (nee von Kaenel) age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Bend with loving family by her side.

She was born on June 11, 1925 in Savannah, MO to the late Frederick and Dora (nee Mahood) von Kaenel. Caroline attended Savannah High School in Missouri and later graduated from both Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL and Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO.

On June 22, 1947, Caroline was united in marriage to the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Jacobs at Zion United Church of Christ in St. Joseph, MO. Caroline moved with her husband to various locations throughout his ministry including: Manly, IA, Elkader, IA, Hubbard, IA and Quincy IL. She worked as a nurse at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL until her retirement in 1988. Caroline's husband, Robert, preceded her in death on May 10, 2001. That same year, Caroline moved to Cedar Ridge where she enjoyed an active lifestyle, and became a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.

Caroline is survived by her three children, Michael (Linda) Jacobs of Milwaukee, Denise (Allan) Martin of Hubbard, IA and Donna (Dr. Marc) Olsen of Bayside; eight grandchildren, Kelly (Travis) Krueger, Matthew (Heather) Jacobs, Jennifer (Jens) Braun, Jason (Sara) Martin, Morgan Olsen, Dane Olsen, Elijah Carley Olsen and Sanya (Joseph) Carley; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bailey and Noah Martin, Carson and Claire Braun and Jet Jacobs; many other dear relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and her brother, Wiley von Kaenel of Savannah, MO.

A Memorial service in remembrance of Caroline will be held on Friday, January 8th at 11:00 am at the Cedar Ridge Chapel in West Bend. A reception with the family will follow. Inurnment will take place at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Warsaw, IL.

Memorials in Caroline's name to Peace United Church of Christ, (343 First Street, Kewaskum) or Cedar Community Foundation, (113 Cedar Ridge Drive, West Bend) are appreciated by the family.
