Mabel L. Rusch

January 11, 1921 — September 26, 2015

Mabel L. Rusch, 94, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Lighthouse of West Bend.

Mabel was born on January 11, 1921, to the late Paul and Louise (Kasten) Liesener. On November 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elmer Rusch at David Star Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jackson.  Elmer preceded Mabel in death on August 1, 1983.

Mabel was a long time member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha.  She enjoyed being a member of the ladies aid at church and hosting many of the members of the church at her home.  Mabel liked to garden and can her home grown vegetables.

Those Mabel leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, James Rusch of Oconomowoc, Darlene (Dick) Harris of Lomira, Dennis (Marilee) Rusch of Pewaukee and Sally (James Gregory) Chason of Spring Hill, Tennessee; a son-in-law, Rev. Andrew Backus; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Nancy) Liesener of Largo, Florida, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by two children, Milton Rusch and Dee Backus and two brothers, Delwyn and Roger Liesener.

A Memorial Service for Mabel will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

Mabel’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Rev. Lawrence Gates will be officiating with a luncheon to follow.

A private family entombment will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial to Wisconsin Lutheran High School are appreciated.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Betty’s Harbor and Serenity Hospice for their wonderful care of Mabel.
